Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Murtaza Solangi, criticized PTI founder Imran Khan, stating that Khan nominated a weak candidate for the chairman position.
Solangi expressed his view on an ARY News show, highlighting that it’s unusual to have an interim chairman, especially one nominated by someone currently in jail, suggesting a lack of trust in the party’s leaders.
Barrister Gohar Khan was elected unopposed as the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with the nomination from Imran Khan. Solangi referred to Barrister Khan as an “interim or daily-wager” chairman, emphasizing that PTI seems to prioritize democracy in the country over its internal party processes.
Solangi pointed out the irony of PTI, which accused other parties of dictatorship, facing controversies in its own intra-party elections. Akbar S. Babar, a dissenting PTI leader, rejected the election results, claiming decisions were made behind closed doors without the participation of party workers.
Babar, a founding member, announced intentions to approach the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the party polls, describing the entire process as a “fraud and farce” and challenging the legitimacy of the concept of a caretaker in the party’s constitution.
