South Africa has included fast bowler Corbin Bosch in their squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan, replacing Anrich Nortje, Cricket South Africa announced on Sunday.
Bosch, who made his Test and One-Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan in December, will travel to Karachi on Sunday to join the squad for a triangular series involving Pakistan and New Zealand. This series serves as a preparatory event ahead of the Champions Trophy, which is set to begin on February 19.
Nortje was initially included in the squad last month but was withdrawn just a day later due to a back injury. His likely replacement, Gerald Coetzee, was named on Wednesday for the tri-series but was later withdrawn after experiencing groin tightness during a practice session before departure.
As a result, teenage pacer Kwena Maphaka has been added to the squad for the tri-series and will serve as a traveling reserve for the Champions Trophy.
In addition to player changes, Cricket South Africa also announced the appointment of former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat as a consultant for the support staff. He will assist the team during both the triangular series and the Champions Trophy.
