Producer Asit Modi Talks Dayaben Casting, Dilip Joshi Remembers Disha Vakani
The favorite Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, aka TMKOC, has recently hit a big milestone – 17 successful years on air. Celebrating the event, the cast and crew gathered to reminisce the journey that began in 2008 and TMKOC still remains one of India’s most favorite shows.
During the event, producer of the series Asit Kumar Modi discussed the much talked about Dayaben’s character return – a question that has been posed ever since Disha Vakani went on a maternity break in 2017. Modi addressed the viewers’ concerns who have been emotionally invested in the character. He assured them that the makers are in the process of casting a new Dayaben.
“Dayaben is an integral part of the show’s identity, and we understand how important her return is for the audience. We are taking our time to find someone who can do justice to the iconic role,” Modi stated. Regardless, he still hasn’t revealed whether Disha Vakani would return to reprising her role as Dayaben or a new actress would be taking over.
Dilip Joshi, a well-known veteran actor who plays the role of Jethalal and has a remarkable on-screen chemistry with Disha Vakani, reminisced about his former co-star.
