Jaffar Express and Bolan Mail Temporarily Suspended
The Pakistan Railways has suspended all major train services from Balochistan for four days, citing security concerns, officials confirmed on Saturday. According to the Railway Control Centre, trains departing from Quetta will remain non-operational from November 9 to November 12 as part of precautionary safety measures.
The suspension affects two of the province’s key inter-provincial routes — the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express and the Karachi-bound Bolan Mail. These trains serve as vital links connecting Balochistan to the rest of the country. Railway officials clarified that the Jaffar Express will depart for Peshawar as scheduled on November 8, before the suspension period officially begins.
Authorities stated that the decision was taken to ensure passenger safety following recent security alerts. Coordination between railway departments and law enforcement agencies is ongoing to assess the situation and implement enhanced protection for passengers and railway infrastructure.
Suspension Extended Beyond November 12
In a follow-up statement, the Sibi Railway Control Centre announced that the suspension will also continue on November 13, extending the disruption of inter-provincial train services. Both the Quetta–Peshawar Jaffar Express and the Quetta–Karachi Bolan Mail will remain suspended until further notice.
Railway authorities emphasized that services will resume only after receiving security clearance from the concerned agencies. “The suspension has been enforced purely due to security concerns,” a spokesperson said, urging passengers to remain patient and follow official updates.
The extended halt in operations highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan and the government’s efforts to safeguard travelers during heightened alerts.
