United States President Donald Trump has said that ending the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict would be “very easy” for him, asserting that he has already defused eight major global wars in recent months.
During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, Trump remarked that he was aware of the latest tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and could resolve them effortlessly if needed. “That’s an easy one for me to solve if I have to,” he said.
Trump emphasized that although his main duty was to run the United States, he took personal pride in mediating peace and ending wars around the world.
Highlights His Peace Record and Mentions Pakistan-India
Reiterating his achievements, Trump claimed that his diplomatic interventions had prevented large-scale wars, saving “tens of millions of lives.” He cited Pakistan and India as an example of two nuclear-armed neighbors whose conflict he helped defuse through dialogue.
“The Prime Minister of Pakistan said I saved millions of lives in interceding on Pakistan. Look at Pakistan and India — that would have been a bad one,” he stated.
Trump said he had successfully mediated eight conflicts, including those in the Middle East, Rwanda, the Congo, Thailand, and South Asia. He added that even Russian President Vladimir Putin had praised the United States’ role in mediating global disputes.
Trump Repeats Nobel Peace Prize Complaint
The U.S. president also revived his long-standing complaint about not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, despite claiming to have stopped multiple wars. “Every time I solve one, they forget about the last one,” he said jokingly.
Trump added, “Somebody else got it, a very nice woman. I don’t know her, but she was generous. Still, I think I deserved it.”
Praised by PM Shehbaz Sharif as a “Man of Peace”
Following the Gaza peace agreement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded Trump as a “genuine man of peace” who had worked tirelessly to end conflicts around the world.
Speaking alongside Trump and other leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the Pakistani premier declared the day “one of the greatest in contemporary history.”
He praised Trump’s role in bringing peace to South Asia and the Middle East, crediting him for preventing a potential war between Pakistan and India. “Had it not been for this gentleman, a full-scale war between two nuclear powers could have erupted,” Shehbaz said.
The prime minister described Trump’s leadership as “visionary and exemplary,” adding that his peace diplomacy had made the world a safer place. “His name will be remembered in golden words,” Shehbaz concluded.
Trump on His Role as a Global Mediator
Earlier, while traveling to Israel aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters that he had been closely monitoring the Pakistan-Afghanistan clashes. He described himself as “good at solving wars,” adding that he would address the issue once he returned from his Middle East trip.
“This will be my eighth war solved. Think about India and Pakistan, wars going on for decades, and I got every one done — mostly within a day,” he claimed.
Trump emphasized that many of these conflicts “had nothing to do with the U.S.,” yet he intervened to prevent humanitarian catastrophes.
Meeting with Zelensky and Focus on Ukraine
During his meeting with President Zelensky, Trump highlighted his recent peace summit with Vladimir Putin, positioning himself as a global peacemaker. While Zelensky had come seeking military support, Trump appeared focused on advancing diplomatic solutions instead of providing arms.
The White House meeting underscored Trump’s continued efforts to promote negotiations over warfare, particularly as he seeks to solidify his image as a global problem solver ahead of the upcoming election season.
Global Response to Trump’s Peace Assertions
Analysts believe Trump’s remarks reflect his desire to maintain a high-profile global role in conflict mediation, especially after the success of the Gaza peace deal. His frequent references to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India suggest that South Asia remains a key part of his diplomatic narrative.
Observers note that while Trump’s statements often draw skepticism, his claims of direct involvement in peace processes have nevertheless positioned him as an active voice in international diplomacy.
As Trump continues to present himself as the “solver of wars,” his repeated emphasis on Pakistan and Afghanistan underscores his ambition to be seen as a global peacemaker. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s glowing endorsement has further elevated Trump’s profile as a key figure in contemporary peace negotiations.
Whether his claims translate into concrete diplomatic outcomes remains to be seen, but for now, Trump appears eager to keep the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict on his list of “easy” victories.
