ISLAMABAD: Two influential politicians in Punjab Jahangir Khan Tareen and Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mahmud have joined hands to strengthen their position ahead of the upcoming elections against PTI’s Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Political analysts consider this development a major breakthrough in southern Punjab politics which can break the monopoly of PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Jahangir Tareen and Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmud have decided to bury the political rivalry between their respective families and make struggle for politics together.
Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmud is the president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) South Punjab while Jahangir Tareen is the former general secretary and key cabinet member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The two leaders intend to jointly contest elections against Shah Mahmood Qureshi and emerge as a major political force in South Punjab.
PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi has pitched his daughter in NA by-election in Multan which has created anger in the party.
