The Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has declared its intention to stage sit-ins at 28 different highways across Sindh today, protesting against what it alleges is electoral rigging.
Through a social media post, the religio-political party is mobilizing its supporters, urging them to participate in large numbers in the street demonstrations. The party’s apprehensions revolve around the delayed release of election results, with the Election Commission of Pakistan having disclosed outcomes for 261 out of the total 266 seats since Friday.
The prolonged wait for complete results has heightened tensions, prompting the JUI-F to take decisive action in the form of sit-ins. The Election Commission’s gradual dissemination of results has added to the uncertainty surrounding the electoral process. Despite the provisional results indicating that the JUI-F has secured three National Assembly seats, the party remains dissatisfied with the overall situation.
The sit-ins are strategically planned at 28 different highways, underscoring the widespread nature of the JUI-F’s discontent. By urging supporters to take to the streets, the party aims to amplify its voice and draw attention to what it perceives as irregularities in the electoral process. As the political landscape unfolds amidst these sit-ins, the coming days will likely witness increased scrutiny, public engagement, and discussions surrounding the legitimacy of the election results.
