Zimbabwe Set Competitive 162 as Bennett and Raza Shine
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field, but Zimbabwe capitalised with a solid batting display. Brian Bennett impressed with a rapid 49, providing early momentum. Sikandar Raza continued his fine form, scoring a composed 47 to stabilise the innings.
Ryan Burl contributed 18, while veteran Brendan Taylor added 11.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers had mixed success. Wanindu Hasaranga led the attack with three wickets. Eshan Madushanka grabbed two, while Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana chipped in with one wicket each.
Despite the wickets, Zimbabwe reached 162 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs, setting a challenging target.
Sri Lanka Collapse to 95 as Zimbabwe Bowlers Dominate
Sri Lanka’s chase unraveled quickly under relentless pressure from Zimbabwe’s bowlers. Their entire batting order collapsed for just 95 runs, bowled out on the final ball.
Captain Dasun Shanaka was the only resistance, scoring 34, while Bhanuka Rajapaksa added 11. None of the remaining batters managed to reach double figures.
Brad Evans starred with three wickets, while Richard Ngarava struck twice. Sikandar Raza and Graeme Cremer picked up one wicket each to complete the rout.
The convincing victory puts Zimbabwe in a strong position in the tri-nation series and highlights their growing confidence ahead of upcoming fixtures.
