Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka to Compete in November Tournament Across Rawalpindi and Lahore
Zimbabwe has officially confirmed its participation in the upcoming T20I tri-nation series in Pakistan, stepping in to replace Afghanistan, who recently pulled out of the tournament. The series, organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will now feature Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, and is scheduled to take place from November 17 to 29 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The opening match will see Pakistan face Zimbabwe on November 17 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, setting the tone for the eagerly anticipated international series. Zimbabwe will then take on Sri Lanka on November 19, also in Rawalpindi, as the teams compete for momentum early in the competition.
This development follows Afghanistan’s withdrawal from the tournament amid rising tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, as well as reports of internal security concerns and logistical complications on their end. The PCB acted swiftly to ensure the tri-series remained on track by extending an invitation to Zimbabwe, which was promptly accepted by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).
Lahore to Host Five Matches at the Renovated Gaddafi Stadium
The remaining fixtures of the tri-series will be played at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium, which has recently undergone extensive renovations. The updated venue will host five matches, including the latter stages of the series and potentially the final, providing fans in Lahore with a chance to see top international cricket in action.
This series is expected to serve as crucial preparation for all three teams ahead of upcoming international commitments and the next T20 World Cup cycle. For Zimbabwe, it’s also an opportunity to gain valuable exposure and experience against higher-ranked opponents.
With confirmed venues, dates, and teams now locked in, the PCB is preparing to welcome international cricket back to home grounds in what promises to be a competitive and high-energy series.
