Chairman NAB to get pay and perks equal to a supreme court judge
ISLAMABAD: The newly-appointed chairman of the National Accountability Bureau will get pay and perks equal to the judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Ministry of Law of Justice issued a notification wherein it said the NAB’s chairman’s rules and regulations for employment will be equivalent to that of a supreme court judge.

According to the notification, NAB chairman Lt-Gen. (Retd) will get the following incentives:
Monthly salary Rs 1.7 million;
Free electricity up to 2,000 units per month
Free Petrol 600 liters a month
One Plot Two Kanal in Islamabad
Free accommodation
Servants, etc.
Earlier this month, the government appointed Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt as NAB chairman for a three-year term.
The Ministry of Law and Justice said that the appointment had been made by the federal government after a consensus between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Raja Riaz.
The post of NAB chairman fell vacant on Feb 15, 2023 after the resignation of Aftab Sultan.
After “detailed deliberations”, both sides agreed on the appointment of Lt Gen (retd) Ahmad.
The NAB chairman shall hold office for a “non-extendable term of three years” and will not be eligible for subsequent appointment.
It is also not possible to remove the chairman from office except on the grounds and in the manner as provided in Article 209 of the Constitution, the notification added.
The Ministry of Law and Justice, however, did not mention whether or not NAB Chairman will surrender his pension as Lt-Gen. (Retd) as long as he heads the accountability bureau.
