An American woman named Mindy has arrived in Pakistan to marry Sajid Zeb Khan, a resident of Upper Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after the two connected and formed a relationship online.
Mindy, who works as a flight attendant and lives in Chicago, flew into Islamabad International Airport where Sajid welcomed her. From there, they travelled together to Sajid’s hometown in Usheri Dara, Upper Dir. Locals warmly received Mindy, celebrating her visit with traditional hospitality.
In a conversation with local media, Sajid shared that he and Mindy first met two years ago on Facebook. Over time, their friendship blossomed into a deeper bond, and eventually, Mindy proposed marriage. Sajid accepted her proposal, and both families were informed about their decision to wed.
Sajid also mentioned that they have chosen not to request security protection, expressing confidence that their plans would proceed peacefully. The couple plans to solemnise their marriage (nikah) on Tuesday, following Islamic traditions and local cultural customs.
Mindy, speaking from Sajid’s home in Upper Dir, expressed her admiration for Pakistan. “My name is Mindy, and I’m from America. I’m here in Pakistan for the first time. It’s a very beautiful and peaceful country. I came for Sajid Khan, and we plan to marry soon,” she said in a video message.
The story highlights the growing trend of international couples meeting through digital platforms and overcoming cultural and geographical distances. Sajid’s family and community have welcomed Mindy with open arms, underlining the local emphasis on hospitality and respect for guests.
The upcoming nikah ceremony is expected to blend local traditions with the personal journey of a couple brought together by technology, showing how modern connections can bridge thousands of miles and cultural differences.
