An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for 96 individuals, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and other senior party leaders, in connection with a recent protest at D-Chowk. The warrants, authorized by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, were secured by the Kohsar police.
Notable figures named in the warrants include Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and prominent party members Shoaib Shaheen, Ali Bukhari, Aamir Mughal, Zulfi Bukhari, Faisal Javed, Murad Saeed, and Salman Akram Raja. Federal and provincial officials, such as Omar Ayub, Sher Afzal Marwat, Raoof Hassan, Shahram Tarakai, and Khalid Khurshid, are also listed among the accused.
Separately, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court remanded PTI founder Imran Khan to judicial custody in Adiala Jail in a case related to incitement to protest. Judge Amjad Ali Shah presided over the hearing. After the conclusion of his physical remand in the New Town police case, Imran Khan was sent to jail on judicial remand for six additional cases. His physical remand, initially extended until December 2, followed a court appearance on November 26 after a five-day custody period.
In parallel, significant progress has been reported in cases registered across multiple police stations in Islamabad regarding the PTI’s recent protests in the capital. A joint investigation team (JIT) has been formed to probe eight cases filed at police stations, including Khanna, Tarnol, Sangjani, Golra, Kohsar, Secretariat, and Karachi Company.
The JIT comprises representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Islamabad police, with leadership from the capital police. It will collect witness statements and investigate allegations, including incitement, unlawful assembly, and damage to public property during the demonstrations.
