Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, appeared visibly emotional during a session at an Islamabad court on Monday, expressing her deep disappointment with the judicial system and asserting that justice was nowhere to be found in her case. She told the court that she hadn’t arrived with expectations of fairness, adding that her belongings were packed in her vehicle, ready to comply with the court’s decision, even if it meant going to jail.
While addressing the court, Bushra Bibi described enduring months of mistreatment and hardship, stating that both she and her husband, Imran Khan, had been subjected to severe injustices across the country. Her voice breaking with emotion, she pointed out that the couple had been unfairly targeted. She directed sharp criticism at the legal community, claiming that the lawyers involved were unnecessarily prolonging the process and that the judicial system was failing to recognize the basic rights of those appearing before it.
In a decisive tone, Bushra Bibi declared she would not return to the courtroom again, citing the unrelenting pattern of perceived injustices. The court, meanwhile, reserved its decision on a bail plea filed on behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his wife. While it considered the bail request for one specific case, it also instructed the jail authorities to facilitate Khan’s presence at future hearings through a video link, given that six other cases are pending against him. The court’s instructions seek to ensure his attendance for the ongoing legal proceedings.
