Train Attack
China has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan, reaffirming its unwavering support for Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. Beijing has pledged to work alongside Islamabad to maintain stability, safeguard civilians, and strengthen counterterrorism efforts.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning, addressing a press briefing on Wednesday, denounced the attack and expressed China’s firm opposition to terrorism in all its forms. “We noted the reports and strongly condemn this terrorist attack,” she stated, adding that China remains committed to assisting Pakistan in combating terrorism, ensuring national unity, and maintaining social order.
She further emphasized China’s willingness to enhance security cooperation with Pakistan to promote regional peace and stability.
The Jaffar Express, carrying over 450 passengers, was targeted by terrorists in Balochistan’s Bolan region. Militants sabotaged railway tracks, opened fire, and hijacked the train, using innocent civilians as human shields. Security forces responded swiftly, launching a large-scale operation to rescue the hostages.
The United States also condemned the attack, particularly since it was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a US-designated global terrorist organization.
The US Embassy in Islamabad expressed deep sympathies for the victims and their families, emphasizing that the Pakistani people deserve to live without fear. “The United States will remain a steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens,” the embassy stated.
Pakistan’s security forces have so far managed to rescue over 190 hostages, including women and children. Special units have been conducting clearance operations with extreme caution to protect innocent lives.
Security sources reported that all terrorists present at the site had been eliminated. However, the exact number of passengers who lost their lives in the attack is still being determined.
During the ongoing operation, authorities confirmed that 37 injured individuals were evacuated for medical treatment. The tense situation remains, as security forces have pledged to continue operations until the last terrorist is neutralized.
The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where militant groups have continued their insurgency.
Despite these threats, Pakistan has vowed to intensify counterterrorism efforts with the support of its allies, including China and the United States, to ensure the safety of its citizens and national infrastructure.
