Strategic Relations
Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir lauded Pakistan’s enduring strategic relations with Saudi Arabia, emphasizing their foundation in “exemplary historic religious and cultural ties,” according to a report by the Inter-Services Public Relations.
During a meeting at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the army chief engaged in discussions with Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Humaid, who had recently arrived in Pakistan. Matters of mutual interest were on the agenda, and the COAS underscored the honor bestowed upon the people of Pakistan by the Imam-e-Kaaba’s visit.
The Imam-e-Kaaba, in turn, emphasized the principles of peace and brotherhood inherent in Islam, rejecting any misconstrued interpretations. The meeting also delved into global concerns, condemning the ongoing atrocities in Gaza and the oppression faced by Muslims in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Both dignitaries expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and Kashmir.
Highlighting the robust ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, General Munir stated, “Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have strong strategic relations based on exemplary historic religious and cultural ties and unique reverence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the hearts of the Pakistanis apart from the unanimity of views amongst the two brotherly countries.”
The Imam-e-Kaaba prayed for the peace, stability, and unity of the Ummah. Earlier in his visit, he met with interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and participated in the international conference on ‘Protection of Human Life in Shariah and Law’ at the Faisal Masjid Campus of the International Islamic University. This visit not only strengthens diplomatic ties but also reflects the shared commitment to peace, justice, and solidarity among Muslim nations.
