ISLAMABAD: Punjab Anti-corruption Establishment today registered a corruption case against the sitting IG Police Islamabad Akbar Nasir Khan.
The ACE Punjab has vowed to arrest Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, upon his arrival in Punjab.
The case against IG Islamabad has been registered a day ahead of the launching of PTI long-march from Lahore to Islamabad from Friday (Oct 28). The participants of long-march will reach Islamabad on Nov 4.
According to ACE Punjab, the IGP Islamabad caused a loss of Rs35 million to the treasury.
According to ACE, the IGP Islamabad earlier led the Punjab Safe City Authority as its CEO for five years, till 2020.
On October 11, the ACE summoned Islamabad IGP to appear before the Director Vigilance Punjab in Lahore for a probe regarding corruption in different projects of Punjab Safe City Authority.
A spokesperson for ACE said, Islamabad IGP Akbar Nasir Khan is guilty of embezzlement of public funds.
He said the ACE officials summoned Akbar Nasir Khan twice but he did not appear before the investigation team.
Akbar Nasir Khan has been appointed as the Islamabad IGP since May 2022.
