The tragic event occurred at a residence on Prince Road in Gujranwala city. According to police reports, the confrontation was between two brothers, Murtaza and Umar Farooq.
Their disagreement over the exorbitant electricity bill escalated into a violent altercation. In a moment of rage, Murtaza used a sharp instrument to slit Umar’s throat, resulting in Umar’s immediate death at the scene.
Following the incident, a case was filed against Murtaza, and the police are currently conducting raids to apprehend him.
In a separate and similarly grim event in Faisalabad, a man was also killed by his younger brother over an ‘exorbitant electricity bill.’
This incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Balochni police station. The victim, identified as Ghulam Fareed, was stabbed to death by his younger brother, Muhammad Qais.
The altercation between the two siblings arose from their mutual reluctance to pay the high electricity bill.
The disagreement between Ghulam Fareed and Muhammad Qais intensified, leading to the fatal stabbing.
Both incidents highlight the severe consequences that financial stress, particularly related to high utility bills, can have on familial relationships.
In Gujranwala, the violent end of Umar Farooq and in Faisalabad, the fatal stabbing of Ghulam Fareed underscore the tragic outcomes that can result from such disputes.
Authorities are now working to resolve these cases, with police efforts focused on arresting those responsible for the violence.
