Elon Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, is offering Wisconsin voters $100 to sign an online petition titled “Petition in Opposition to Activist Judges.”
The petition criticizes judges who are accused of making rulings based on personal beliefs rather than strict legal interpretation, as reported by U.S. media outlets.
Participants will receive $100 upon signing and an additional $100 for each referral. However, the offer is exclusive to Wisconsin residents and remains valid until April 1 at 11:59 PM CDT. Those earning more than $600 must submit IRS Form W9 to America PAC.
The petition launch coincides with Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election on April 1, featuring a contest between Republican Brad Schimel and Democrat Susan Crawford. This election has gained national attention as it could influence the court’s ideological balance.
Musk’s America PAC and Building America’s Future PAC are supporting Schimel, while Crawford has received backing from progressive donors.
Critics have raised concerns about privacy, as signers are required to provide personal details such as email addresses and phone numbers to America PAC. Additionally, terms and conditions mention potential payment delays of up to two months.
Wisconsin’s status as a key swing state makes this judicial race particularly significant, with potential implications for voting rights and abortion laws. The financial involvement of America PAC highlights the high stakes, as both candidates secure considerable funding in what is expected to be a pivotal election.
