Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again expressed unwavering solidarity with Pakistan, praising the nation’s composure and wise leadership during the recent escalation of tensions with India.
During a cabinet meeting, Erdogan referred to Pakistan as a “brother nation” and commended its patience and diplomatic restraint throughout the crisis. He welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, calling it a constructive move toward regional peace and stability.
The Turkish leader reiterated his country’s principled stance on recent developments, including what he described as a “brutal terrorist attack” in Kashmir and the missile strikes on Pakistani territory. He noted that Turkey had worked actively to reduce hostilities and avoid further escalation.
“We made every effort to calm the dangerously escalating situation between the two countries,” Erdogan stated. He also highlighted his recent phone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which they thoroughly discussed the crisis.
“I once again congratulate my Pakistani brothers for showing patience, wisdom, and discipline,” Erdogan said, urging caution against provocations and emphasizing the need for sustained calm.
Looking ahead, Erdogan expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for resolving long-standing disputes, including contentious water-sharing issues.
He concluded by reaffirming Turkey’s steadfast alliance with Pakistan: “Turkey will, God willing, always stand with our Pakistani brothers — in both difficult and peaceful times.”
