A devastating suicide bombing in Khuzdar claimed the lives of at least five children and injured over 40 others on Wednesday when a school bus was targeted near Zero Point on the Karachi-Quetta National Highway.
Authorities reported that the explosion occurred as a school bus passed by a vehicle laden with explosives parked along the roadside. The blast site, Zero Point, is a critical intersection on the highway and typically busy during the morning hours.
“A vehicle with explosives was stationed at the roadside and detonated remotely as the school bus passed,” said a senior police official. An investigation has been launched to determine the type of explosive device used and identify those responsible.
Deputy Commissioner of Khuzdar confirmed that the explosion was a suicide attack, resulting in the deaths of five children and injuries to more than 40 others. The injured were immediately transported to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for medical treatment.
National Leaders Condemn Attack
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the bombing, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of young lives. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Those who target innocent children are beyond forgiveness,” said Naqvi. “This brutal attack is a cowardly attempt to destabilize the country. Our unity will defeat every such conspiracy.”
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan also denounced the attack, calling it “the height of brutality and cowardice.” He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
“This is a national tragedy that leaves the entire country in mourning,” said Khan. “May Allah grant the martyred children a place in heaven and give strength to their families during this painful time.”
