ISLAMABAD: Governor of State Bank of Pakistan Jameel Ahmed and federal secretaries are representing Pakistan in the IMF-World Bank meetings, starting in Washington from today (April 10).
The week-long meetings are taking place at the IMF and World Bank headquarters. The key focus of the meetings is the impact of climate change, threatening lives and livelihoods worldwide.
From Pakistan side, the secretaries of finance and economic affairs and the State Bank governor are attending the the meetings.
Importantly, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is not attending these meetings because of critical political situation in Pakistan.
The IMF-WB meetings will highlight rising inflation, the cost-of-living crisis, and slower growth effects hurting the poor and most vulnerable.
“Record high debt is holding back developing countries, and the effects of climate change are threatening lives and livelihoods around the world,” the statement added.
