SUKKUR/ISLAMABAD: The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed ‘Sailab Khan’ _ a new-born baby born in a relief camp in Sukkur.
The UN chief was glad to see the new-born baby in the relief camp while PM Shehbaz took the baby into his lap. Mother of the baby appears gleeful after seeing the UN secretary-general and Prime Minister of Pakistan in her relief camp on Saturday.
Many families have named their baby boys as Sailab Khan (Flood Khan) as the children came in this world amid devastating floods.
On Saturday, the UN secretary general Antonio Guterres once again called for the international community to step up in helping Pakistan overcome the challenges posed by the devastating floods and extend support in rebuilding a climate-resilient infrastructure.
He made the remarks in Sukkur today where he was given a detailed briefing by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah about the devastation caused by floods in the province.
The UN Secretary-General said the countries vulnerable to climate change, including Pakistan, must be supported to rebuild resilient communities and infrastructure to resist future disasters. He also stressed a reduction in emissions.
