ISLAMABAD: On July 10, 2024, a joint intelligence-based operation was carried out by security forces and police in the Hassan Khel area of Peshawar District, following reports of terrorist activity in the region.
The operation targeted Abdul Raheem, a high-profile terrorist commander with a Rs6 million bounty on his head, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
After an intense exchange of fire, Raheem and two other terrorists were killed. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the scene.
Raheem was notorious for his involvement in numerous terrorist activities, including the deaths of Captain Hussain Jehangir and Havildar Shafiq Ullah on May 26, 2024. His death is considered a significant victory in the fight against terrorism.
However, the operation came at a heavy cost. Four security personnel lost their lives in the line of duty: Sepoy Muhammad Idrees (34) and Sepoy Badam Gul (38) of the Pakistan Army, and Sub Inspector Tajmir Shah (38) and Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Akram (34) of the CTD KPK.
“Pakistan’s Security Forces stand shoulder to shoulder with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and stability across Pakistan, and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR stated.
