Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced that party founder Imran Khan has declared all political and legal options closed to him, opting instead to initiate a nationwide protest campaign.
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar stated that Imran Khan has concluded that no political or legal paths remain open, leaving public protest as the only viable course of action. The former prime minister has committed to leading the movement himself from behind bars and has issued instructions to PTI Secretary General and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub.
“The party founder has made it clear he will personally lead this protest movement. All related directives will be conveyed through Omar Ayub,” Gohar said.
While a specific timeline for the protest launch has yet to be announced, it was confirmed that Imran Khan has assumed the role of Patron-in-Chief of PTI and will now be making all major decisions within the party.
Addressing rumors of internal leadership shifts, Gohar clarified that Ali Amin Gandapur would not be appointed to lead the protest drive. He reaffirmed his own role as PTI Chairman but stressed that key decisions will now be made by the party founder.
Barrister Gohar also condemned what he termed as blatant electoral rigging in the recent by-election in Sambrial, Sialkot, calling it completely unacceptable.
