A heated exchange erupted at Adiala Jail on Thursday when Faisal Chaudhry, the lawyer representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was barred from entering the prison.
In a video circulating online, Chaudhry is seen confronting Assistant Superintendent Imran Riaz, demanding to know why he was stopped. His frustration escalated into verbal abuse as he insisted on being allowed inside to meet his client. Meanwhile, the jail official attempted to explain the situation.
Following the incident, Chaudhry filed a formal complaint at Adiala Jail Chowki. He stated that his power of attorney was attached to all cases involving Imran Khan and accused the jail administration of unlawfully preventing him from entering.
He also noted that he was scheduled to attend a hearing related to the attack on General Headquarters (GHQ) at an anti-terrorism court. However, instead of being allowed inside, he claimed he was made to wait for two hours in the deputy superintendent’s office as a form of punishment for protesting.
Chaudhry further alleged that jail staff harassed him and other petitioners, calling for legal action against those involved.
Imran Khan, the former prime minister and ex-cricketer, has been imprisoned since August 2024 following his conviction in the Toshakhana case. This is one of several legal battles he has faced since his removal from office in April 2022.
