Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene an emergency meeting to address the controversial U.S.-Israeli plan to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
During a late-night phone call on Saturday with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, Araghchi stressed that Islamic nations must take a firm stand in defending the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, particularly their right to self-determination.
A Call for Unified Action
“The forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza is not only a grave crime amounting to genocide but also poses serious threats to regional and global stability,” Araghchi warned. He emphasized the urgency of a coordinated response from the Muslim world to counter what he described as a “nefarious scheme.”
The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that Islamic countries have a moral and political obligation to support the oppressed Palestinian people, ensuring their right to self-determination and a secure life in their homeland.
OIC Response
OIC Secretary-General Taha welcomed Iran’s proposal for an extraordinary meeting of OIC foreign ministers to address the issue. He assured Araghchi that he would consult with member states to explore the possibility of convening the session.
