RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have eliminated eight Khwarij militants in a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), while one soldier embraced martyrdom, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Monday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted between May 4 and 5, 2025, and targeted areas notorious for terrorist activity. In a significant development, an IBO was launched in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, where security forces, acting on credible intelligence, engaged suspected terrorist hideouts. The exchange of fire led to the killing of three Khwarij militants.
In another successful operation in South Waziristan, security personnel neutralized two additional Khwarij members. Tragically, during this operation, one soldier, Naik Mujahid Khan, aged 40 and a resident of District Kohat, was martyred. ISPR praised his bravery, stating that he fought gallantly and embraced shahadat while defending the nation.
Additional engagements also took place in Khyber and Bannu districts, resulting in the deaths of three more Khwarij terrorists. These operations reflect the continued vigilance and operational effectiveness of Pakistan’s armed forces in countering the persistent threat posed by militant groups in the region.
The ISPR confirmed that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the slain militants. These individuals had been involved in various terror-related activities, including attacks on security forces and the targeted killings of innocent civilians.
Sanitization operations are ongoing to ensure no remaining militants are present in the affected areas. “Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicating terrorism,” the ISPR emphasized. “The sacrifices of our brave soldiers only strengthen our resolve.”
This follows a similar string of operations earlier in the month. On May 3, security forces killed five Khwarij terrorists in separate engagements across KP. In Bajaur, three militants, including a key figure named Faridullah, were killed during a fierce gun battle.
Two more were gunned down in the Dosali area of North Waziristan. Meanwhile, in Mohmand, a secret militant hideout was destroyed, and two terrorists, including prominent member Lal Amir alias Ibrahim, were apprehended.
These operations mark a significant blow to militant networks in the region, underscoring the relentless efforts of Pakistan’s armed forces to ensure peace and security.
