Additional Judges
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) approved the appointment of 12 additional judges for the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday, a significant step in strengthening the judiciary.
The meeting, which took place under the leadership of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, confirmed the appointments following careful consideration of the candidates’ professional credentials and expertise.
According to the official statement, the constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court had granted a six-month extension to the existing judges.
The new appointments include Tasneem Sultana, Khalid Hussain, Osman Ali Hadi, Nisar Bhanbro, Jaffar Raza, and Hasan Akbar. These individuals will join the SHC as additional judges and are expected to contribute significantly to the court’s workload.
In addition to the six previously mentioned, Abdul Hamid Bhurgri, Jan Ali Junejo, Miran Muhammad Shah, Ali Haider Ada, Riazat Ali, and Fayyazul Hasan Shah will also serve as additional judges of the Sindh High Court.
These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the judicial process in Sindh is more efficient and effective.
The JCP also convened separate meetings to address appointments for the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Balochistan High Court (BHC).
During the discussions, the commission approved the nomination of Azam Khan and Raja Inam Amin Minhas as additional judges for the IHC. Although there were four candidates under consideration, the JCP selected two based on a majority vote.
For the Balochistan High Court, the appointments of Muhammad Asif, Najamuddin Mengal, and Muhammad Ayub were approved unanimously.
These decisions were made after thorough evaluation of the candidates’ qualifications, with the commission recognizing their professional experience and dedication to the legal profession.
This wave of judicial appointments aims to bolster the capacity of the country’s high courts and improve the delivery of justice.
The decisions reflect the JCP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the judicial system across Pakistan, ensuring a fair and transparent process for all citizens.
