ISLAMABAD: Justice Sardar Tariq Masood is set to assume the role of acting Chief Justice of Pakistan while Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa travels abroad for the winter holidays.
On Saturday, Justice Masood will take the oath as Acting Chief Justice and will fulfill this role for a duration of two weeks.
The Supreme Court’s Registrar’s Office has issued a notification regarding the winter judicial break. From December 18 to 31, the court will observe its winter vacation, resuming normal operations from January 1.
Throughout this period, court offices will remain operational, except on public holidays.
Urgent cases will be addressed by the available bench, as outlined in the notification.

Last month, this gang targeted an Indian Sikh family visiting for Baba Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary celebrations in Gulberg. Posing as law enforcement officers, they stopped the family under the guise of security checks and stole cash amounting to Rs400,000 along with their jewelry.
Additionally, two abducted children, 13-year-old Alishan from Jhang and 14-year-old Muhammad Ibrahim from Baghbanpura, were successfully rescued, as reported by the CIA CP.
