Visa Fraud
Karachi, May 2, 2025: In a significant development, the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended a suspect outside the United States Consulate in Karachi for attempting to obtain a visa through fraudulent means.
The operation was launched following a formal complaint lodged by the US Consulate, which raised concerns over the submission of suspicious documents.
The individual, identified as Muhammad Ibrahim, was detained after presenting forged documents in an effort to support his visa application.
According to FIA officials, the suspect submitted counterfeit medical certificates along with fabricated attestation documents falsely bearing the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). These falsified documents were designed to strengthen his case for a US visa on purported medical grounds.
Authorities stated that Ibrahim’s fraudulent activity came to light during the consulate’s routine document verification process, which flagged inconsistencies in his paperwork. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the medical letters and MoFA certifications were entirely forged.
“His intent was to deceive consular officials through the submission of forged medical reports and official certifications. This is a serious violation of visa regulations and international documentation standards,” said an FIA spokesperson.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is currently being interrogated by the FIA. Officials are probing whether Ibrahim acted alone or as part of a broader network involved in document forgery and human trafficking operations.
The FIA has confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the counterfeit documents and identify any accomplices or facilitators who may have aided the suspect.
The agency reiterated its commitment to cracking down on such illegal practices and emphasized that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in undermining the integrity of international immigration systems.
