In light of escalating tensions along the Pakistan-India border, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sanctioned a Rs 2 billion internal security fund to enhance emergency preparedness and public safety measures across the province.
This special allocation, according to the Punjab Home Department, has been distributed among deputy commissioners in all districts. The funds will support the procurement of essential items such as food supplies, fuel, and medicines to help manage any potential crisis.
The Home Department clarified that the initiative is aimed at safeguarding public welfare and equipping law enforcement, civil defence, and emergency services to respond promptly to any developing situation.
Authorities have advised the public to limit outdoor movement unless absolutely necessary, avoid unnecessary travel, and not to spread or believe unverified information. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official sources and follow government guidelines during this sensitive period.
