Massive Fire
A massive fire erupted at the Model Ramzan Bazaar on Jhang Road in Faisalabad, reducing 56 shops to ashes and causing financial losses worth millions of rupees.
The fire, which broke out suddenly, spread rapidly, engulfing shops selling fruits, vegetables, and groceries. Within minutes, the entire market was ablaze, leaving shopkeepers helpless as they watched their businesses go up in flames.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as thick black smoke billowed into the sky, and towering flames consumed everything in their path. Shop owners and customers ran for safety while rescue teams rushed to the site to contain the fire.
Firefighters from the Rescue 1122 emergency service responded swiftly, dispatching six fire brigade vehicles to douse the raging flames. However, it took nearly four hours of relentless efforts before the fire was finally brought under control.
According to initial reports, the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit. Muhammad Zahid, the official in charge of the Ramzan Bazaar, confirmed the cause, stating, “The fire started due to an electrical short circuit. We have informed the authorities and the Deputy Commissioner about the losses, and a report is being compiled to assess damages and possible compensation for the affected shopkeepers.”
Despite the devastating destruction, no casualties or injuries were reported. However, the financial toll on traders is severe, as many had stocked up on goods ahead of the busy shopping season.
Authorities are now investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and whether additional safety measures should be implemented to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The affected shopkeepers are hoping for financial assistance or compensation to help them recover from their losses.
The incident has raised concerns over fire safety protocols in temporary markets like the Ramzan Bazaar, where electrical wiring and infrastructure may not always be up to standard. Many traders are calling for better precautionary measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
