Amid a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military leadership reaffirmed its commitment to deploying the “full force of the state” against those aiding and abetting hostile elements attempting to destabilize Pakistan.
This declaration was made during the 268th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir. The forum conducted a thorough review of internal and regional security challenges and reiterated its determination to eliminate terrorism in all forms, regardless of the cost.
Pakistan has faced escalating militant attacks, especially after the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. In January 2025 alone, terrorist incidents surged by 42% compared to the previous month, according to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remained the most affected regions, with militants targeting law enforcement personnel and civilians.
During the meeting, military officials were briefed on the evolving geo-strategic landscape, emerging national security threats, and Pakistan’s strategic countermeasures. The leadership reaffirmed its resolve to thwart foreign-backed elements and their political associates attempting to disrupt peace in Balochistan.
The military emphasized that such actors, who serve external interests and endanger national stability for personal political gains, will face decisive action. The connection between domestic and foreign destabilizing forces has been exposed, and their attempts to create unrest will be countered with the full support of the people of Balochistan.
The conference stressed the swift execution of Azm-e-Istehkam under the National Action Plan (NAP), advocating for a unified national response. Officials underscored that state institutions will enforce laws firmly within constitutional bounds, showing no tolerance for destabilizing forces.
COAS Munir commended the establishment of district coordination committees and emphasized the need for sustained, coordinated efforts between institutions to ensure the swift implementation of NAP. He assured that the Pakistan Army will fully support the government and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in cracking down on illegal economic activities linked to terrorist financing. “There is no room for terrorists and their facilitators in Pakistan,” he stated.
The military leadership also expressed deep concern over human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and condemned ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC). They reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people.
Concluding the session, COAS directed field commanders to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness and professional excellence, ensuring rigorous training to uphold peak combat preparedness.
