ISLAMABAD: On the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, mobile phone service providing companies have announced free phone-calls in the flood-affected areas.
This facility will enable thousands of people hit by rains and floods to seek help from the government and communicate with their loved ones.

Pakistan has announced emergency and acute humanitarian crisis because of monsoon rains and floods which have claimed 1,003 lives and left over 20 million people homeless.
Horrifying video clips and images of devastating floods sweeping away homes, and bridges are being seen on social media these days.

Therefore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the PTA and telecommunication companies to provide free call service in flood-affected areas.
He also directed the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to ensure the facility from today (Saturday)The federal and provincial governments, and many non-governmental organizations are working hard to provide relief to those impacted by the calamity.
The aim of this initiative is to speed up rescue and relief activities in areas affected by rains and catastrophic floods.
PM Shehbaz Sharif has also convened a meeting of all the chief ministers in Islamabad to discuss the flood-related issues, including strategies to support the displaced people and families of those who have lost their lives.
