KARACHI: The five-day multinational maritime exercise AMAN-25 and the inaugural AMAN Dialogue commenced in Karachi on Friday, bringing together naval forces from across the globe.
The primary objective of the exercise is to strengthen maritime cooperation, promote safe and sustainable naval practices, share experiences, and collectively address emerging maritime threats.
Global Participation in AMAN-25
The 9th edition of AMAN-25 is being held in the Arabian Sea, featuring participation from over 60 countries, including naval ships, aircraft, special operations forces, and EOD marine teams.
Additionally, the AMAN Dialogue will serve as a platform for Naval Chiefs, Coast Guard Commanders, and Defence Forces to discuss global and regional maritime security challenges.
Opening Ceremony and Key Address
The opening ceremony took place at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard in Karachi, where Commander Pakistan Fleet Rear Admiral Abdul Muneeb emphasized the significance of global maritime cooperation.
In his address, Rear Admiral Abdul Muneeb highlighted that no single country can tackle evolving maritime challenges alone, stressing the need for collaborative efforts to safeguard international waters.
For the first time, the AMAN exercise has introduced a peace dialogue, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to international maritime security and cooperation. Commodore Umar Farooq also delivered a message from the Chief of Naval Staff, reiterating the Pakistan Navy’s dedication to regional peace and stability.
Symbol of Unity and Peace
A decorated contingent of the Pakistan Navy raised the flags of participating nations, symbolizing global unity and cooperation. The ceremony also featured the release of doves, representing the spirit of peace.
The event was attended by senior naval officers, international delegates, and observers, marking the commencement of a major maritime exercise aimed at fostering collaborative security efforts among global naval forces.
