National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has called on the opposition to work towards reducing political tensions in the country, emphasizing that all issues can be resolved through dialogue.
During a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders at the Parliament House cafeteria, Sadiq urged opposition members to play an active role in ending the ongoing political deadlock.
Sources revealed that the speaker stressed the importance of constructive engagement, stating, “Every matter can be settled through dialogue.”
The attending parliamentarians acknowledged Sadiq’s efforts in maintaining the smooth functioning of the National Assembly. PTI leader Junaid Akbar, present at the meeting, remarked, “The speaker’s role is vital in facilitating negotiations.”
Other notable attendees included PTI leaders Atif Khan and Arbab Sher Ali, along with parliamentarians Nafisa Shah and Noor Alam.
Negotiation Committee to Continue
A few days earlier, Sadiq reaffirmed his decision to maintain the negotiation committee tasked with bridging the divide between the government and the opposition.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he expressed disappointment that the government had been waiting for the opposition’s participation, but the opposition committee had not engaged in discussions.
“The government remained open to dialogue, but negotiations cannot proceed under preconditions,” he stated, calling for both sides to approach talks with an open mind.
Sadiq reiterated his belief that political stability is essential for governance and that constructive discussions are the only path forward. His appeal underscores the need for cooperation between all political factions to address national challenges effectively.
