Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar announced on Sunday that more than 8,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to ensure security during the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) final between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.
As per a Punjab Police spokesperson, the IGP has directed officials to implement robust security arrangements for the safety of local and international players, match officials, and cricket fans.
Dr. Usman noted that senior officers would oversee all aspects of security, traffic control, and public safety throughout the event. He urged personnel deployed at key locations to remain alert and closely monitor any suspicious activity.
“We have adopted an enhanced security strategy for PSL matches to ensure a secure environment for all,” stated Dr. Usman. He also commended the Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan police forces for their effective management during earlier fixtures.
He highlighted the effective collaboration between district administrations, security forces, and related agencies, which has played a vital role in the smooth organization of PSL events.
Specialised units such as the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Units, and Elite Force teams will conduct patrols along key roads, near the stadium, and in nearby areas. Continuous surveillance will be ensured through CCTV cameras placed along team routes, stadium perimeters, and accommodation sites.
The Punjab Police has also issued a traffic advisory, urging the public to cooperate with security officials. In addition, snipers will be stationed on high-rise buildings around the stadium to enhance security.
The IGP encouraged fans to follow police instructions to ensure they can enjoy the match in a safe and orderly environment.
