Amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India, the process of repatriating citizens from both sides continues, with 236 Pakistanis returning from India and 115 Indian nationals crossing back through the Wagah Border.
The recent escalation—sparked by a disputed terrorism incident blamed by India—has led to the cancellation of visas by both governments, leaving many stranded and forcing abrupt returns.
Affected individuals expressed frustration over the situation, criticizing the lack of thorough investigation and the premature decisions that disrupted lives. Many described the experience as a reminder of how ordinary citizens bear the brunt of geopolitical hostilities.
“This happens every time relations begin to improve,” one returnee said. “A single incident derails everything, and it’s always the common people who suffer.”
The latest developments have further strained already fragile people-to-people ties between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, highlighting the human cost of diplomatic breakdowns.
