ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory, calling the military action an “unjustified” and “illegal” violation of international law, and a serious threat to regional peace and security.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office expressed deep concern over the strikes, describing them as a clear breach of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The FO spokesperson stated that the Israeli actions were in blatant violation of the United Nations Charter.
“Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s military strikes inside Iranian territory. These actions are a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter,” the FO spokesperson said. “Iran, as a sovereign nation, has every right to defend itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter.”
The Foreign Office called on the international community to take immediate notice of the situation and act to prevent further escalation in an already volatile region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also issued a strong condemnation via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Strongly condemn unjustified Israeli attacks on Islamic Republic of Iran which is a brazen violation of Iran’s sovereignty. This abhorrent action has shaken foundations of international law as well as conscience of humanity, and gravely undermines regional stability and international security. Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Government and the people of Iran.”
The Israeli airstrikes, which Tel Aviv described as “preemptive and precise,” targeted key locations in Tehran and other areas. According to reports, the strikes resulted in the deaths of several Iranian military officials, including senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The attacks have drawn widespread condemnation across the Muslim world, with Iran vowing a “strong and calculated” response. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Armed Forces spokesperson Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi both issued warnings of “severe punishment” for Israel, accusing it of committing a “grave crime” with the backing of the United States.
