Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, emphasized Pakistan’s responsibility to safeguard religious sites of all faiths, pledging to enhance their beauty and significance. Speaking at the inauguration of a newly built residential complex for Hindu pilgrims at the Katas Raj Temple, managed by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), he underscored the temple’s importance as a symbol of cultural and religious diversity.
Hussain noted that a modern 36-room facility, costing Rs. 19 crore, has been constructed to accommodate Hindu pilgrims, ensuring their comfort with modern amenities. This initiative aims to provide a positive global message about Pakistan’s commitment to minority communities.
Highlighting the Ministry’s dedication to minority welfare, the minister praised the ETPB, especially its chairman, Syed Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, for protecting and developing religious sites. He extended an invitation to Hindus worldwide to visit the Katas Raj Temple, assuring them of complete religious freedom under Pakistan’s facilitation.
ETPB Chairman Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman appreciated the collaborative efforts of the government and local authorities in improving the temple complex. Renovations include 6,000 newly planted trees, a 40 kW solar system, and enhanced parking facilities to ensure a sustainable and comfortable experience for pilgrims.
Krishan Sharma, President of the Pakistan Hindu Mandir Management Committee (PHMMC), expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts, assuring that Hindu religious sites in Pakistan are safe and welcoming. He invited the global Hindu community to visit their sacred places in Pakistan.
The event was attended by Federal Secretary Zulfiqar Haider, ETPB officials, and various dignitaries, drawing a large audience of officials and local attendees.
