Pakistan Railways
Pakistan Railways has announced a revised refund policy for tickets purchased through Point of Sale (POS) counters and online platforms such as RABTA.
The new policy outlines different refund percentages based on the timing of ticket cancellations relative to the train’s scheduled departure.
As per the notification issued by Pakistan Railways, passengers who cancel their tickets 48 hours or more before departure will be eligible for a 90% refund.

If a ticket is cancelled within a 24 to 48-hour window before departure, the refund amount will be 80% of the ticket price. For cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure, passengers will receive 70% of their fare as a refund.
Passengers who cancel their tickets within two hours of the train’s departure will only be eligible for a 50% refund. However, if the train is cancelled or delayed by more than six hours, a full refund will be issued to the passengers.
In such cases, passengers can collect their refunds from POS counters upon presenting their original ticket and a copy of their CNIC to obtain a cancellation slip.
For those who purchased tickets online, the refund process will also be handled online.
The amount will be refunded through the same service provider that received the payment at the time of booking. The refund policy for online ticket holders remains identical to that of POS counter purchases.
However, online ticket purchasers will not be eligible for any refund after their train’s departure. Additionally, online ticket cancellations will not be allowed if the train’s departure is scheduled within the next 1 hour and 30 minutes.
These changes aim to streamline the ticket refund process and ensure a smoother experience for railway passengers. Travelers are advised to check the updated policy before booking or cancelling their tickets to avoid inconvenience.
