Despite heightened speculation after Field Marshal Asim Munir’s high-profile luncheon with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, Pakistan has firmly maintained its unwavering support for Iran amid its escalating conflict with Israel.
A well-informed source with direct knowledge of the meeting confirmed that Pakistan’s policy remains unchanged. “Our support for Iran is 100% the same,” the source said, stressing that Pakistan remains one of the few nations actively supporting Iran during this critical time.
The Trump-Munir meeting garnered widespread attention and triggered discontent among certain circles in Pakistan—particularly within the ranks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Critics, especially from PTI’s online community, voiced sharp objections, interpreting the meeting as a potential shift in Pakistan’s Iran policy. One prominent PTI figure, currently evading arrest, helped circulate theories suggesting that Islamabad might be succumbing to U.S. pressure.
However, those narratives were swiftly countered on Thursday when Pakistan’s Foreign Office publicly reiterated its commitment to Iran. According to spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Islamabad condemned Israel’s “unjustified and illegitimate aggression” and urged the international community and the United Nations to hold Israel accountable for its breaches of international law.
Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s “firm solidarity with the Iranian people” and denounced Israel’s “provocative actions,” warning that such aggression threatens not only regional peace but global stability.
This official stance reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to its foreign policy priorities, signaling that diplomatic engagements with the U.S. will not alter its regional allegiances, particularly regarding Iran’s security and sovereignty.
