Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held telephonic conversations with the leaders of Egypt, Oman, and Qatar to convey his warm Eid Al-Fitr greetings and discuss bilateral ties.
During his call with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, the prime minister expressed his wishes for peace and prosperity while emphasizing the strong historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Oman. He highlighted opportunities for enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, energy, IT, and defense. PM Shehbaz also welcomed the recent visit of Pakistan’s commerce minister to Muscat and extended an invitation for the Sultan to visit Pakistan.
In his discussion with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, PM Shehbaz extended Eid greetings and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Egypt across multiple sectors. Recalling his visit to Cairo during the D-8 Summit, he expressed a desire for deeper collaboration. The two leaders also discussed regional and global issues. Additionally, PM Shehbaz requested Egypt’s support for Pakistan’s hepatitis program, with an Egyptian health delegation expected to visit Pakistan after Eid.
PM Shehbaz also connected with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasizing the longstanding brotherly ties between the two nations. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening political, economic, and cultural cooperation. The premier commended Qatar’s diplomatic efforts, particularly in promoting peace in Gaza. Sheikh Tamim reciprocated his well wishes and confirmed a planned visit by a high-level Qatari delegation to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.
To further cultural exchanges, PM Shehbaz proposed hosting an exhibition in Lahore celebrating the shared heritage of Pakistan and Qatar, while also inviting Sheikh Tamim for an official visit.
