Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his government’s focus on economic revival and technological growth while speaking at the ‘Health Engineering and Minerals Show’ organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in Lahore.
The exhibition gathered local and international industry leaders and investors. In his remarks, the prime minister extended an invitation to both domestic and foreign investors to collaborate through joint ventures, particularly in Pakistan’s mineral and mining sectors.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and harnessing the country’s untapped potential across key sectors including IT, artificial intelligence, engineering, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and mineral resources.
Highlighting that over 60% of Pakistan’s population is comprised of youth, PM Shehbaz noted that this emerging generation is embracing modern technology and vocational training. “Our youth are talented, capable, and ready to drive innovation,” he stated. “Pakistan’s future lies in investing in research, development, and technological advancement.”
He pointed to several economic achievements under his administration:
- Inflation has been brought down from 38% to 1.5%.
- The policy rate has been reduced from 22.5% to 12%.
- Electricity costs have been lowered to stimulate industrial productivity and support households.
“These measures reflect our broader vision of creating a conducive environment for investment,” he said. “Now is the right time for local and global partners to explore Pakistan’s mineral wealth through strategic alliances.”
The exhibition featured diverse displays including pharmaceuticals, agricultural tools, gems, jewellery, and rare stones. The prime minister praised the event as a testament to Pakistan’s rich natural resources and industrial strength. He emphasized Pakistan’s active trade and business ties with China, Africa, Europe, and the United States.
“Regions like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are abundant in natural resources. We must seize this opportunity to form productive partnerships and foster inclusive growth,” he remarked.
He also acknowledged the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, applauding their contributions to provincial progress and youth engagement.
Concluding on a hopeful note, PM Shehbaz said, “Pakistan is moving steadily toward prosperity. With joint ventures, cutting-edge technology, and our dynamic youth, we can build a self-sufficient and successful nation.”
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal also addressed the gathering, expressing optimism that the event would catalyze future joint projects in the mineral sector. A number of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the show, indicating growing investor confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential.
