The police have announced the arrest of the main suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping of renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar in Lahore. The primary suspect, Amna, along with her three accomplices, was apprehended in Nankana Sahib. They are accused of kidnapping Qamar on July 15 and stealing a significant amount of cash, his mobile phone, and a valuable watch.
Amna, who posed as a British citizen to lure Qamar to the kidnap location, orchestrated the crime. After luring him, she and her accomplices abducted Qamar, stole his belongings, and threatened to kill him if he reported the incident. The suspects then abandoned him at an undisclosed location.
Amna, a repeat offender with a history of similar crimes, used her guise as a British citizen to gain Qamar’s trust before executing the robbery. A case has been filed at the Sundar police station, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover additional details and potential accomplices.
The FIR, registered on July 21 after Qamar’s return, details that he received a call from Amna inviting him to her home under the pretense of discussing a drama project. Upon arrival, he was ambushed by armed men, who kidnapped, tortured him, and demanded ransom from his family. The abductors also stole Rs267,000 from his ATM card before abandoning him blindfolded in a deserted area.
Khalilur Rehman Qamar, renowned for his popular dramas like ‘Pyarey Afzal’, ‘Sadqay Tumhare’, and ‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’, as well as the film ‘Kaaf Kangana’, has expressed his distress and called for justice, stating he could identify the perpetrators if they were brought before him.
