A powerful explosion and subsequent fire struck Iran’s Shahid Rajaei Port in Bandar Abbas on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The blast originated from containers within the port complex, igniting a large fire and sending a massive plume of black smoke into the sky. The explosion was reportedly strong enough to be felt in nearby towns.
Mehrdad Hasanzadeh, a provincial disaster management official, confirmed that there were injuries resulting from the incident. Emergency responders are actively working to access the affected area and evacuate personnel. The port, a critical hub for container traffic and housing oil and petrochemical facilities, remains operational, though the full extent of the damage and impact on operations is still being assessed.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
