ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi today conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) upon army chief and chairman joint chiefs of staff committee.
New army chief Syed Asim Munir and CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Mirza received the awards in Islamabad on Thursday.

A special ceremony was arranged at Aiwan-e-Sadar today to confer these awards upon both the top Generals of Pakistan Army.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, federal ministers and senior civil and military officials attended the ceremony.
On Nov 29, General Syed Asim Munir became the new army chief of Pakistan by replacing General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Meanwhile, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza assumed the charge of CJCSC on Nov 27 as General Nadeem Raza retired a day earlier.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed the new army chief and CJCSC as they were the senior most Lt-Generals in Pakistan.
