Several members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have reportedly encouraged Aleema Khan, the sister of party founder Imran Khan, to take over the party’s leadership. Sources indicate that these leaders believe Aleema’s involvement and family connection could help address ongoing internal divisions and stabilize the party.
The suggestion was made during a meeting with Aleema Khan, where concerns were raised about the party’s internal dynamics. The leaders voiced frustration over the dominance of dynastic politics in Pakistan and acknowledged the challenges in transforming PTI into a fully democratic institution.
The internal unrest stems from a perceived lack of balance within the current leadership, with party members alleging that conflicting directives have led to ineffective decision-making. One key example cited was the failure of the November 24 protest, which members attributed to poor planning and disjointed instructions.
Major (Retd.) Iqbal Khattak reportedly highlighted these issues, stating that inconsistent leadership decisions have directly contributed to recent setbacks.
This development comes amid broader reports of discord within the PTI leadership. The party has already issued several show-cause notices to members over various disagreements, further underscoring the internal tensions.
As PTI continues to face challenges in uniting its ranks, calls for Aleema Khan to step into a leadership role reflect a growing desire among members for more cohesive and effective governance. Whether or not she takes on the position, these developments point to a critical juncture in PTI’s organizational trajectory.
