LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the Punjab government has officially established an online portal to promote Sikh tourism in the country.
Sikh pilgrims now have access to an online booking service known as the ‘Sikh Yatra Booking Portal,’ enabling them to reserve hotels, security, and transportation. Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the portal on Thursday.
This online service is designed to offer Sikh pilgrims the convenience of booking hotels and transportation from anywhere in the world, ultimately fostering religious tourism in the country.
During the inauguration, CM Naqvi pledged to ensure the complete security of Sikh pilgrims who visit Pakistan four times a year for their religious festivities.
Furthermore, Naqvi assured that Sikh pilgrims would receive the utmost compassion, and this portal aims to address the challenges pilgrims have faced during their previous visits to Pakistan.

To enhance security and provide proper protocol, authorities have decided to establish a tourism police.
Dr. Mambal Singh, a member of the Prabandhak Committee, expressed gratitude to CM Naqvi, emphasizing that Sikh pilgrims appreciate the warmth they receive from Pakistan. He noted that the online service created by Naqvi has won the hearts of Sikhs, providing a streamlined path for them to attend their religious events.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Minister of Information and Tourism Amir Mir, Chief Secretary Punjab, IGP Punjab, Secretary Tourism, Commissioner Lahore, CCPO Lahore, and others. Sikh leaders also participated in the event, commending the efforts of the Punjab government to promote positive ties between the two nations.
