LAHORE: The Punjab government has unveiled a plan to shield schoolchildren from the harsh winter by distributing warm clothing across the province.
The initiative will provide winter apparel to 21,000 students from government schools starting January 13. The distribution will take place in Lahore and three other districts: Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah. Items to be provided include sweaters, coats, shoes, and uniforms.
This project, initiated on the directives of the Chief Minister, will be carried out with support from the Department of Bait-ul-Mal and the Social Welfare Department. Sources further revealed that the selection process for the beneficiary schools has already been finalized.
Winter Vacation Update
The Punjab government recently revised the winter vacation schedule for schools. According to the updated notification from the Punjab Education Department, the winter break will conclude on January 10, with schools reopening on January 13 due to the weekend falling on January 11 and 12.
Earlier, the government had announced a 22-day winter break for schools, spanning December 20 to January 10, ensuring uniformity for students and teachers across the province.
